Haunted Houses and Warm Kitchens

By

Before healing,

my circle was about quantity,

not quality.

I thought the more faces around me,

the safer I was.

The louder the room,

the quieter my doubts would get.

The quieter my mind would be.

But here’s the truth—

I was more lonely in a room full of people

than I ever was by myself.

A full circle,

but an empty heart.

A thousand names in my phone,

but no one I could really call.

Healing…

changed that.

Healing shifted my eyes,

my ears,

my soul.

I stopped looking for numbers

and started noticing depth.

I stopped chasing “enough people”

and started craving the right people.

And here’s the thing—

the ones I used to pass by,

the ones who looked unapproachable,

intimidating,

distant…

turns out, they were just haunted houses.

But haunted houses

with warm kitchens.

A little dark on the outside,

but inside?

Laughter.

Kindness.

The smell of coffee brewing,

waiting for someone willing to knock

and come inside.

My circle is smaller now.

But it’s stronger.

It’s real.

It’s full of souls who don’t just fill silence,

they honor it.

Who don’t just take up space,

they bring peace to it.

And the greatest gift?

Healing brought me a love

I never thought I deserved.

Healing allowed me to love her—

fully,

wholly,

purely.

Quantity never gave me that.

Quality does.

So here’s what healing taught me:

When you stop fearing your own haunted hallways,

you stop fearing other people’s.

And sometimes—

the most beautiful connections,

the most unexpected loves,

come from the places you once thought

were too dark to enter.
